Polishing the Art Life --- to Mr.Chen

Mr. Chen was an excellent painter in the field of oil painting and the other painting. He was good at the lacquer painting that was very complicated and difficult with mysterious, but he had got the highest honor for several times for his outstanding lacquer paintings, such as “Far Sound”, “The Prosperous and Peaceful Time”, and “ The Flying Song on the Ground”. In the year of 2009, he guided the 16 students and teachers’ lacquer paintings that were chosen to participate in the 11th National Art Exhibition, and there were 4 works getting awards. This year, in the “Jin Xiu Hai Xi” exhibition, the number of the prizes of the lacquer painting of fine arts department in Xiamen University was on the fist place in Fujian. There was a similar case. In the Lacquer Exhibition of the Chinese Arts Exhibition in the Shanghai Expo, Xiamen University had 8 awarded works. He created the myth of getting award.
Mr.chen was a gentle and quiet man, but he was excited when talked the lacquer. He concluded the characteristic of the Chinese lacquer art by the words: “Thousands bright and new legend”. This painting had a long history and its unique fascination for its special material and technique, but the history of it to be a separate department was 40 years. Mr.Chen, as the pioneer in the field of the lacquer painting, played different roles in the society from the teaching to the researching, and he put his heart and soul in this field. In 2001, Chinese Artists Association set the Art Committee of Lacquer Painting in Xiamen city in particular.( The other committees were set in Beijing.) Mr.Chen was the the under-secretary-general, and he was appointed as the Jury of the national lacquer painting exhibition. In fact, he was excellent in everything.
He could keep a good state, and constantly explored new techniques even if he was as busy as a bee. He was searching for a new painting language. It was proved that he didn’t indulge himself in the pleasure of success, but made every effort to find a high point in the lacquer painting.
